To kick this diary series off, I want to give a little background. We all are aware of the travel IG FOMO. And like most people, I’ve been susceptible to it for as long as social media has been around.

If that wasn’t bad enough, far before social media had the impact it does – I’d pined after the family vacations my friends seemed to be having my whole life. Their holidays were always spent in Mexico or with family across the U.S. I also had plenty of exposure to TV and film and there too, they saw the world on a grander scale. I dreamed of joining the Pokemon gang on a cruise ship or the Olsen twins in NYC. I so badly wanted to see the world for myself.

As I’ve gotten older, I have been able to take myself on adventures. A few stepping out the country, a few in. But as I went farther the more I noticed that I hadn’t seen much of where I was from. Texas was a big state. And even though I had moved around more than average, I still feel there was so much more to see.

So, here goes exploring the planet we live on. I hope to capture it well.
